I am considered by many, including Hubbie, odd in at least one respect:
I admit to role-playing to people at work.
They know I do Dungeons & Dragons, many know I do other stuff during the week (Pendragon & Spycraft currently). Some remember when I did LARP (oWOD Camarilla UK).
so - are you 'out of the dice bag' at work?
I have a D20 blue tacked to my monitor! When asked 'what are you doing this weekend?' the answer may well be 'Role-play Saturday, XYZ Sunday', And yes, I do get the weird looks and sometimes the quizzical questions as I have to explain, no, not that sort of (sex game) role-play :P
But I can also spin it - indeed I once needed to give a presentation on 'something' at work so chose the reasons to RP. It gives confidence in group settings, you can learn your limits with leadership - is it natural, do you have to work on it? - it involves team work, negotiation and puzzle solving, tactical thinking and trying to understand stuff. It is escapism, cathartic and great stress relief.
But do you admit this dark shameful secret to work colleagues?

My coworkers are well aware of my gaming/rp/geekiness and are quite curious about it...I've even gotten people to be more comfortable within our team by bringing in boardgames to play at lunch...I think it is a very good confidence building activity too!!
Ha not only do I admit - I am always defending the game industry and the positives it brings to people. When I was still in University (Playing some UO as well as D&D-ing at that time) I did a research project on the potential value of online roleplay games for socially disadvantaged youth. Got me an ace grade on it too....
I'd have loved to do my Master's Thesis on 'gaming as a microcosm of life'.
