i read today that EA games just announced the recent release of a few new games to "wet your appetite" for some liquid refreshment. The games, Bartender DS, Liquor Craftsman/Teacher, and Sommelier DS probably play in the style similar to Cooking Mama where the player masters simple recipes to unlock increasingly complex bonus recipes and expand their skills in the kitchen. Except, as one would expect, the player is now behind a bar in Bartender Ds or pairing the perfect wine for that cheese plate in Sommelier DS.
the new releases are considered "the gourmet information magazine for the adult" by EA, but really, they're games. and as much as i'd like to consider it as handy as a travel translator, it wont be accompanying me to my favorite watering hole to make sure my gimlet or godfather is made within Nintendo standards.
that being said, i have no reservations about the fun factor of this game. i'd like to see a customer patron the player's bar, and perhaps after each successful alcoholic concoction, a BAC rating for the consumer. and maybe a little slurred drunken pick up line to their neighbor. the sleazier the better.
